The New Face of Kaduna State

Kaduna state may soon rise to the status of a megacity once the undergoing projects in the state are completed. Every area of the state is filled with men in hard hats and construction workers changing the face of old structures or building new ones. From parks, shopping malls, public buildings to roads and bridges, the state is getting an infrastructural makeover never before seen in the history of Kaduna.

Unpaved roads in areas like Barnawa have been tarred and are now easier to navigate and use by motorists. This upgrade is part of a socio-economic development listed in an infrastructure master plan for 2018-2050, with 3,828 individual projects, 70% of which is funded by the state and 30% of which is built in collaboration with local and international partners.

Under the Urban Renewal Programmer, the government has improved and is currently building roads and bridges with streetlights and road markings, reconstructing markets in Kaduna, Zaria and Kafanchan; revamping Murtala square and constructing housing units in two areas in Kaduna. Several schools and Healthcare centres have been completed and equipped with resources for underserved communities.

Completing these projects might take a while, but work has begun, and progress is being made.
