How Well Do You Know The 2023 Presidential Candidates?

How many of you know the people running for president in 2023, apart from the most visible ones?
If you donʼt, itʼs okay I’ll give you a roundup of six of the presidential candidates for 2023 and what you need to know about them.
I will begin with the candidates you may not know about so you can get familiar with them.
Prince Malik Ado Ibrahim
Just so you know the prince means he is really a prince, yes is royalty. He is the son of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland and is also a successful businessman and founder of Formula One team Arrows 420.
He is well-read and passionate about Nigeria and Nigerians which informed his decision to run for president under the platform of YPP which stands for Young Progressive Party, he is in his 40s so for everyone who wants a young leader this should interest you.
He may be young but he is not inexperienced which is evident in the many projects he takes on. He has a good knowledge of international affairs and conventional and renewable energy.
Hamza Al- Mustapha,
The 62-year-old former chief security officer to the late head of state General Sani Abacha is running under the Action Alliance. He was trained as a military intelligence operative and held various command posts in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Security Group of the Directorate of Military Intelligence (SG-DMI), 82 Division and Army Headquarters; Ministry of Defence and The Presidency.
He also oversaw the reorganization of Nigeria into the six geopolitical zones we have now. He was instrumental in the creation of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).
After Abachaʼs death he went to prison for 15 years from 1998 – 2013. He has contested for the presidency before and hopes to win it this time.
Omoyele Sowere
He is well known as a human rights activist and founder of the online news agency Sahara Reporters. He is running for president under the African Action Congress Party (AAC) he also previously ran for president in 2019.
He was arrested a few years ago for attempting to organize a protest against the state of the country tagged Revolution Now.
Kola Abiola
Son of the acclaimed winner of the overturned 1993 election MKO Abiola. He is running under the Peopleʼs Redemption Party (PRP). He is 59 years old and a businessman.
His presidential ambition met a snag in the road when fellow presidential aspirant under PRP Patience Ndidi Key sued him for irregularities regarding his win at the party primaries. So the outcome of that will determine if he is still in the race.
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso
He is running under New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and is the former governor of Kano state, a businessman and philanthropist. He served as Minister of Defence under former president Olusegun Obasanjo.
2023 will be his third attempt at running for president. He is 65 years old.

Atiku Abubakar
He is running under the Peopleʼs Democratic Party (PDP) and a former Vice President of Nigeria.
2023 will be the sixth time the 75-year-old businessman has sought to become president after first showing interest in 1993.
The Adamawa-born businessman contested in 2007, 2011 and 2019. Is it just me or he is passionate about this position?
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu
He is running under the All Progressives Congress (APC), and he was a former Lagos state governor and senator in the short-lived third republic. His age is stated as 70.
He worked for the American companies, Arthur Andersen, Deloitte, Haskins, & Sells and GTE Services Corporation.
During his time in the US, he was investigated by federal authorities on account of his suspiciously high income which caused his accounts to be frozen in 1993. The investigation revealed that he had ties with drug traffickers.
Peter Obi
The 61-year-old running under the platform of the labour party is a businessman and former governor of Anambra state. He was previously a Vice Presidential aspirant alongside presidential aspirant Atiku Abubakar under the Peopleʼs Democratic Party in 2019.
He declared his intention to run for president under the platform of the Peopleʼs Democratic Party but later pulled out and joined Labour Party. He reportedly complained about the massive bribing of delegates and buying of votes at the party presidential primary informing his decision to leave the party.
