“People start getting lethargic when they don’t have positive inputs into their small worlds”.
-John Vincent.
The divine spark of goodness, inherent within each being, is an understanding of the interconnectedness of all life among humanity. Love, truth, peace, happiness, inner goodness are essential. The world needs a cooperative guiding principle of human values to be optimistic, courageous, self-confident and even-minded in all circumstances.
I came across a philosophy by the South African people, which is known as the Ubuntu philosophy. This idealism suggests that humanity is not embedded in one person solely as an individual; much humanity is co-substantively bestowed upon the others. Humanity is a quality we owe to each other. We create each other and need to sustain this otherness creation. And if we belong to each other, we participate in our daily activities and bring change (positive change) that will affect people’s lives because we are, and since we are, definitely we can do it.
We need the help of other humans to be human. Through its emphasis on humanity, compassion and social responsibility, love had the potential to reduce conflicts between individuals, which are one of the challenges we are facing. That line of goodness that connects all life from the lowest creature to the highest brings co-existence to leave a rich and fulfilled life. A person is a person through other people; this notion strikes an affirmation to humanity through recognition of one another in his or her uniqueness and difference.
It has now become apparent that we need human interaction to live a wholesome, rich and happy life. This seems to have put our existing social constructs under the spotlight, with a focus on what we lack and what needs to be purged. Unfortunately, our activities have served as a catalyst for some values and a stopping point to too many activities, but that is the reality.
Indeed, even the seemingly selfish prioritization of our own lives over others proves to save lives because we are interconnected. But we can learn lessons related to the function of society. Because our efforts and behaviour can affect existing social constructs and positive social constructs to ensure we can take any challenges that come our way.
The philosophy unlocks the capacity of African culture, in which individuals express compassion, reciprocity, dignity, humanity and mutuality. In general, the importance and value of the human being and the community are pivotal within the Ubuntu philosophy. The philosophy with regard to humanity, care, sharing, teamwork spirit, compassion, dignity, consensus decision-making systems, and respect for the environment are all positive elements that could contribute to the improvement of corporate performance.
There is now a global shift in management thinking, taking note of the Ubuntu philosophy. One of the profound lessons of this philosophy is that it integrates African organizations which are able to realize synergies through communalism and collection that arise from the Ubuntu principles. Several external factors automatically affect internal organizational operations. Such internal factors include African culture and leadership styles, business ethics and good corporate governance, including extended family systems and corporate social responsibilities.
Society is important because I AM because YOU ARE. If we were the most beautiful, the most intelligent, the wealthiest, and the most influential person and then found all of a sudden that we were alone on the planet, it wouldn’t amount for you to climb the rock of happy life only you; you need those who will assist you in climbing the rock. This philosophy has a global impact on corporate management systems. With globalization, modern management regards the firm as a community and not just as a collection of individual entities. The philosophy has applicability on a global scale because of its values that are based on human relationships.
In conclusion, if all of us should go our ways and say I will do my things only me, then what I need will surely not come to me without the help of others. For betterment and achievement to attain our goals in the society, peace, love, cooperation, and support must be maintained within ourselves for improvement and betterment of the society.
