Tips on how to survive harmattan: Skincare regimens

We are slowly moving into the season where you look more like a white walker than a person because of the weather conditions. Dry skin season is upon us, and the only way to survive it is to do things that keep you looking and feeling fresh. So here are tips on how to go about that.

Cold air and low humidity levels can drain your moisture. This can leave your skin looking flaky and a lot less radiant than usual; if you’re like me, you know that can be really frustrating.
But luckily, there are ways to combat or manage this. These include;

1. Get a moisturizer:

You can make it a part of your skincare regimen to get a perfect pocket-friendly moisturizer.

2. Sunscreen:

uva/UVB rays are not suitable for your skin, and getting a good sunscreen can protect you from the damage they cause. Many people complain that their skin loses its radiance in dry weather; the most effective way to combat this is by adding sunscreen to your beauty regimen. You should make anything you’re using is at least SPF 30.

3. Use warm water to shower:

It is very tempting to use hot water to bathe as the weather gets colder but try to tone it down by using lukewarm water because hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils.

4. Make essential oils part of your regimen:

This is not the best time for lotions; invest in good essential oils like coconut oil, jojoba oil, shea butter, rosehip oil etc. A petroleum jelly based product like Vaseline is also a good addition. It will keep you feeling fresh and pleasant.

5. Wear a facemask:

Covid 19 made wearing face masks popular, so you may have one, and you should wear it regularly to protect yourself from inhaling dust particles and having them cling to your face causing breakouts.

That’s all I have for you today; getting dry, irritated, flaky skin is not uncommon in this weather, but taking the proper steps to keep your skin looking fresh and healthy would go a long way in helping you look your best. Also, do not forget to drink water. It is essential to stay hydrated and eat healthily.
