Why 3 am is The Least Exciting Time To Wake Up

I hate waking up in the middle of the night, particularly at 3 am, because then all my worst fears surround me, and I find myself panicking and worrying about things I would rather not dwell on.
I know I am not the only one who does this, itʼs a phenomenon that has been tagged “3 am thoughts”, and if you experience it, you know how horrifying it can be.
Lately, I’ve been having many 3 am thoughts, but I’ve also found a way to minimize the frequency of it. I try to redirect my mind to positive things like; future projects I am excited about, exciting details of the
previous day or a movie I saw that stayed with me because it was so good. Anything to push the negative thoughts out of my mind.
You may wonder why it even happens; today, you find out as I have researched the cause and will share my findings based on what psychology experts have said.
At 3 am, our temperature rises, your sleep drive reduces (because you had enough), and stress levels increase as the body prepares for another day.
We wake up many times each night, but when the sleep is great, we may be unaware of these awakenings. But when you are stressed, you will become aware of your awakenings. Sometimes you canʼt sleep and worry about not being able to; when you do sleep, you could be awakened later because of insomnia.
We are also at our lowest physically and mentally around this time, so we have no resources to keep a clear mind free of anxiety. So every negative thing that has been pushed to the back of our minds comes up to the surface, and we are forced to confront them.
During the day, we can think carefully and find solutions or not let these problems bother us so much, but it seems impossible at 3 am.
To deal with these, you could implement the methods I use or meditate, pray and remember it is not bad as it seems; it is just 3 am!
