Race for Kaduna 2023, Alhaji Mustapha Bakano declares governorship candidacy

As Election Day 2023 draws closer, political aspirants make their intentions known and present their manifestos to the people they wish to serve. On Friday, 4 March, Mustapha Othman Bakano, political aspirant under the Peopleʼs Democratic Party(PDP), called for a press briefing at Stonehedge Hotel Kaduna to declare his intentions to run for governor of Kaduna state.

He laid out a manifesto ranging from the educational to the security sector, stressing the importance of decentralizing the government and making the people more involved in decision making because the task is to serve and not be served.

Furthermore, he said Kaduna State would be the first to launch the Land Field Gas project (LNG) on a large scale, making cooking more affordable and available.

He also promised to have the youth actively engaged, stating, “We will put in place measures to get our youth engaged in meaningful jobs, especially skill acquisition, so that they can shun violence and also curtail the habit of drug trafficking in the state”. He added that the biometric system would be used to capture all citizens so nobody would be left out and everyone would have an equal opportunity to cast their votes.
